FLAVORED WATER–ON-A-STICK
Ice pops are water-based treats on a stick. It is made of any flavored- liquid molded and frozen around a stick that is used as handle. There are also ice pops that does not have a handle. These frozen liquid are contained in a round or flat plastic tube. There are also commercially produced products available in the market; however, it can also be produced at the convenience of one’s abode. Ice pops are known with many names such as frozen lolly, popsicle, lolly ice, freezer pop, among others. It has various flavors, sizes and shape and are usually enjoyed by children.
Ice pops are made using a mold. The flavored liquid/sugar water is placed inside a mold and made to freeze for a period of time. Time required to make the liquid solidify depends on the size of the mold. There are a wide variety of available ICE POP MOLDS and POPSICLE MOLDS in the market today. Also known as FREEZER POP MOLDS, these products are used to mold liquids to form any shape and size available. There are also METAL ICE POP MOLDS offered if you fancy metal and steel products. Metal products do not contain BPA. BPA are industrial chemicals found in most plastics used to make food and beverage containers. If ingested, although a lot of plastic manufacturers believe otherwise, it was said to have a bad effect on human. However, there are also ICEPOP MOLDS BPA-FREE products that are available in the market, just make sure that the manufacturer are legit and trust-worthy since a lot claims BPA-free but are actually not. It would be wise to check on the credibility of the manufacturer to be sure.
COMMERCIAL ICE POP MOLDS can be purchased with variety of sizes, colors and shape. A lot of people prefer real, fresh ingredients to use for their Ice pops/popsicles like nutritious fruits. However, there are also available powdered-form flavorings that can be found in the market at a very reasonable price. It is easier, cheaper than real ingredients and less messy to prepare. And since these are commercial products almost all flavors of food are available. There are also delicious and new recipes available on the internet and home magazines for an alternative taste. One can always experiment as well, mixing ingredients and creating new experience to their taste buds. Other flavors like coffee, mocha, cappuccino and chocolate are also a sure hit, even adults surely enjoys it.
The first ice pop is believed to be made in 1905 by an 11-year old kid who left a glass of soda water with a wooden mixing stick in it, overnight, on their back porch. As the temperature dropped below freezing during the night, and as the kid returned the following day, he found the soda frozen. The soda was removed from the glass after running it under hot water. The mixing stick was used as handle and he was able to enjoy a frozen treat for the first time. After a few years, he put a patent and called it popsicle.
